Events
Every month there is a talk on some aspect of the history of Camden or of London in general, free to members but open to non-members for a £1 entry fee. These are usually on the third Thursday of every month, but occasionally on another day depending on the availability of venues and speakers. Warning of a change in the usual timing is given in the Newsletter a month or two in advance.
The talks always start at 7:30pm and last 45-50 minutes, with time for question and comment afterwards. Doors open 7pm, at various venues within the Borough. The lifetime's achievement of John Harrison, clockmaker

A Foundation has recently been formed to celebrate the life of John Harrison, who won the Royal Society's prize for a marine chronometer that could withstand the ravages of violent motion, high temperatures and humidity. Harrison worked in the later part of his life in Red Lion Square and is buried, with his son, in a handsome tomb in Hampstead parish churchyard. Andrew King is a member of the John Harrison Foundation and is interested especially in his early life in which Harrison made extraordinarily accurate clocks out of wood. But Andrew will deal with the later part of Harrison's life as well.
Location: Charlie Ratchford Resource Centre, Belmont Street, London NW1 (a road across Chalk Farm Road opposite the Roundhouse).
