Events
Every month there is a talk on some aspect of the history of Camden or of London in general, free to members but open to non-members for a £1 entry fee. These are usually on the third Thursday of every month, but occasionally on another day depending on the availability of venues and speakers. Warning of a change in the usual timing is given in the Newsletter a month or two in advance.
The talks always start at 7:30pm and last 45-50 minutes, with time for question and comment afterwards. Doors open 7pm, at various venues within the Borough. There are 11 such events during the year (none in August), all free to members. For further information click on the title of the talk in the Events Calendar below.

Clearing and repairing wartime Camden
Thursday, 15 July 2010, 19:30 - 21:00

Robin Woolven, still a member of the Society's Council though retired to Gloucestershire, is a diligent historian of the aerial bombing of London during the Second World War, 1939-1945. In this talk he turns his attention to the problems, frustrations and successes in clearing and repairing the damaged properties and possessions of the businesses and citizens of what is now the London Borough of Camden.

The meeting will be held in Meeting Room 1 at The Lumen, 88 Tavistock Place, WC1H 9RS, a new venue for the Camden History Society. The Lumen is in the rebuilt United Reform Church, at the extreme eastern end of Tavistock Place near the corner of Regent Square. It is easily reached on foot (8 minutes' walk) from bus stops on Gray's Inn Road, Tavistock Square or Euston Road and from King's Cross/St Pancras Tube station (up Judd Street, then left at the traffic lights).
