Events
Every month there is a talk on some aspect of the history of Camden or of London in general, free to members but open to non-members for a £1 entry fee. These are usually on the third Thursday of every month, but occasionally on another day depending on the availability of venues and speakers. Warning of a change in the usual timing is given in the Newsletter a month or two in advance.
The talks always start at 7:30pm and last 45-50 minutes, with time for question and comment afterwards. Doors open 7pm, at various venues within the Borough. Victorian Working Horses in Camden and beyond

Please note: this talk replaces the one advertised (Peter Woodford on Queen Square). It was previously scheduled to be given in February 2012.

 

Peter Darley, well known as the founder of the Camden Railway Heritage Trust, will describe the variety of useful functions performed by horses in Victorian London, including (of course) those who worked underground below the tracks of Camden goods yard, currently commenorated in The Stables market at Camden Town but many more, in the days before motorised traffic.
