Events
Every month there is a talk on some aspect of the history of Camden or of London in general, free to members but open to non-members for a £1 entry fee. These are usually on the third Thursday of every month, but occasionally on another day depending on the availability of venues and speakers. Warning of a change in the usual timing is given in the Newsletter a month or two in advance.
The talks always start at 7:30pm and last 45-50 minutes, with time for question and comment afterwards. Doors open 7pm, at various venues within the Borough. There are 11 such events during the year (none in August), all free to members. For further information click on the title of the talk in the Events Calendar below.

Rev. Edward Irving: saint or fool?
Thursday, 19 January 2006, 19:30 - 21:00
The charismatic preacher Edward Irving held an immense sway over churchgoers in the 19th century, and drew crowds of hundreds of worshippers to various churches, including St Peter?s, Regent Square, close to King?s Cross. However, his eventual fall from grace was spectacular. Barbara Waddington, the archivist of the present Regent Square Church (a postwar replacement of Irving?s 1826 church, which was demolished in the Blitz) has given her talk this provocative title. The talk will be in the church itself, not in the church hall. The entrance is on the south side of Tavistock Place, which continues eastwards beyond Judd Street until it reaches Regent Square.
Location: Regent Square Church, Tavistock Place, London, WC1H 9RT
Contact: Dr Peter Woodford
Cost: £1 to non-members
