Camden History Review No.1 resurrected |
|
Thanks to the very generous offer by Patrick Lefevre of Dartmouth Park to scan into readable form the very first issue of the Camden History Review (1973), which has long been out of print, the issue can be read online by simply clicking on Camden History Review 1 (14 Mb) on the Downloads page of this website. The file comes up in Adobe Acrobat; because it contains more than 14 megabytes it does take a little while to download, but not much more than 5 or 6 seconds. We are most grateful to Patrick for this very considerable achievement working from not particularly congenial material. |

Camden's local history society has over 350 members. It aims to research and describe the history of institutions, houses, people and social movements within what is now the London Borough of Camden, which includes the old boroughs of Hampstead, St Pancras and Holborn and the districts of Highgate, Kentish Town & Camden Town.
The Society has a monthly programme of talks held in different parts of the Borough. Outings are arranged in the summer. Members are encouraged to undertake and publish research themselves, and help and advice are available for beginners. When there is sufficient interest, a group may be formed to study a particular topic or district. The Society has an active publishing arm, with more than 70 publications to its credit since 1970.
An illustrated newsletter is distributed free to each member every two months. Subscriptions are due on joining and subsequently on 1st March each year. Members joining after 31st December need not renew their subscriptions on the following 1st March. |
