Join Camden Tour Guide Chris Foster as he returns with a virtual light-hearted romp along the length of Tottenham Court Road.  We stop along the way to examine how history has changed this long, straight street, starting at its southern end, to learn that thieves and prostitutes were once herded into a nocturnal lock-up.  We discover how Bill Hayley made his name with his first concert in the UK. In Rathbone Street, there was once a waterworks; but more curious were the different licensing hours that applied, depending on which parish you were in. Other topics featured will include the Fitzroy Tavern, the Eisenhower Building, Scala Theatre, Fitzroy Chapel, Cleveland Street, the BT Tower, a Karl Marx pub crawl, and stories of Tottenham Court Road police station from when Chris was a Bobby on the Beat in the 1970s.  He will finish off in Maple Street with a more contemporary music connection.  This talk comes with music and mirth.
